Why didn’t my pension increase by the rate announced last year?

There are several reasons why your pension did not increase or why your increase is different from the published rate.

  1. If you earned your pension under DBprime and retired during the previous year, the increase applied to your pension is pro-rated, and applies only to the months you collected your pension.
  2. If your employer joined CAAT through a merger, the inflation protection you earned under your prior pension plan may be calculated differently. Review the documents you received as part of the merger process for details.
  3. If some or all of your pension was earned before 1992, you will not receive inflation protection increases for that period. The last scheduled “ad hoc” increase for pensions earned before 1992 took place in 2014.

Each year, retired members (and those receiving a survivor pension) receive a letter indicating the amount, if any, of inflation protection added to their pension.
