Effective date and eligibility

Who will join DBplus?

• Ford Motor Company of Canada full-time and temporary part-time (TPT) employees who were hired on or after November 7, 2016, and who are participating in the Defined Contribution (DC) plan provisions of Ford’s Pension Plan #1 and #2 immediately prior to their effective date (defined below).
• Ford Motor Company of Canada full-time employees who were hired/rehired on or after the effective date (defined below).
• Ford Motor Company of Canada TPT employees who meet plan eligibility requirements on or after the effective date (defined below).

When do you start earning a pension in DBplus?

These dates are called the “effective date” which are the dates Ford employees will be enrolled in the CAAT Plan and begin making contributions to DBplus:

• Hourly employees: December 30, 2024
• Salaried bargaining unit employees: January 1, 2025

When can TPT employees join?

Part-time employees who were not previously participating in Ford Pension Plans #1 or #2 immediately prior to the effective dates or were hired on or after the effective dates will start participating in DBplus immediately when one of these conditions is met^*:

• The employee has completed 700 hours of employment with Ford in each of the two consecutive calendar years immediately before joining DBplus.
• OR
• The employee received earnings from Ford of at least 35% of the Year’s Maximum Pensionable Earnings (as defined in the Canada Pension Plan) in each of the two consecutive calendar years immediately before joining DBplus.

^*subject to applicable legislation
