In addition to our valuation, we released our Annual Report. Our strong performance in 2024 contributed to a 10-year annualized net rate of return of 9.6% and an annual net rate of return of 15.2%, reinforcing the sustainability and health of the Plan.

Good news: More options and protection for your loved ones
We've heard from you that in retirement, income security doesn’t just apply to your pension, it also applies to what you can leave behind to those who matter most to you.
Starting May 28, 2025, we’re enhancing your pension plan to offer even greater protection and flexibility for your loved ones.
Here’s what’s new:
180-Month Minimum Payment Guarantee: CAAT is increasing the minimum payment guarantee from 60 times your original monthly lifetime payment amount to 180 times this same amount at no additional cost. The change is automatic and no action is required by you. This applies if you are alive on or after May 28, 2025. It does not apply to survivor pensions already in pay.
The pension guarantee is simply a guarantee that the pension payments paid to you and your survivors will total at least 180 times the amount of your first monthly lifetime pension payment.
100% Survivor Pension Option: If you retire on or after May 28, 2025, you will have a new option at retirement. You can choose to increase your spousal survivor benefit from 60% of your lifetime pension at the date of death to 100%. This option is in addition to the existing 75% option.
If you choose the 100% survivor pension option, your pension will be actuarially reduced, and the reduction will be permanent.
These enhancements increase the lifetime value of your pension contributions, strengthen the financial safety net for your loved ones, and demonstrate CAAT’s commitment to putting members first.
When the Plan does well, you and your loved ones benefit — today and for years to come.
Celebrating Women in Leadership at CAAT
This past March, we celebrated International Women’s Month by spotlighting the voices and experiences of women driving change at CAAT. These stories are part of our broader commitment: to amplify women’s voices and champion equity in leadership.
In a special episode of the Society of Actuaries Podcast, Karen Burnett, Vice President, Pension Solutions, shares her personal journey navigating career growth and leadership. Karen reflects on what it means to lead with purpose – from discovering her love of math on childhood road trips tochallenging outdated assumptions about women’s ambitions in the workplace.
We also celebrated the leadership of Jillian Kennedy, CAAT’s Chief Strategy Officer, in a feature published by the Calgary Herald. Jillian shares how CAAT is helping employers offer meaningful retirement solutions that support employee well-being and business success, making financial security more inclusive and accessible.
