Q: What is the Plan Ambassador program about?

The Plan Ambassador program is all about spreading the message that every Canadian deserves a secure source of income in retirement. Plan Ambassadors are allies who believe in the #Pensionsforeveryone message and are joining the movement to spread the word that DB pensions should – and can - be accessible to all.

Members who join the program will receive resources directly to their inbox. They’ll learn how CAAT is expanding pension coverage across the country and how that’s good for individuals and their communities.

Q: Why did CAAT launch this?

CAAT believes pensions should be available to all Canadians regardless of where they work or the industry they belong too. But currently less than 40% of working Canadians have access to one. We want to be a part of the solution and, with the help of Plan Ambassadors, are actively working to change this.

As a pension plan open to all employers across Canada – public or private – CAAT is on a mission to expand DB pension coverage to more Canadians. With CAAT members as Plan Ambassadors, we can help spread awareness and increase pension coverage across Canada.

Q: Who can become a Plan Ambassador?

It’s easy! Register to become a Plan Ambassador and get your free ‘Pensions for Everyone’ t-shirt at www.caatpension.ca/Plan-Ambassadors.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to enter your contact details. Be sure to select your t-shirt size and input your shipping address. You’ll get an email shortly after welcoming you into the program and sharing next steps.

Q: What are the benefits of joining?

When you become a Plan Ambassador you’ll learn about the positive impacts of pensions and how they’re good for a person’s well-being, community and more - all sent to your inbox. The curated resources include the latest research on Canadian retirement trends, economic insights, and special messages from CAAT’s CEO, Derek Dobson.

You’ll also join your peers in this movement to spread awareness on the value of DB pensions and the benefits of more workers having access to secure, lifetime income in retirement.

Plus, you’ll get a “Pensions for Everyone” Plan Ambassador t-shirt you can wear to help spread awareness.

Q: What do I have to do if I become a Plan Ambassador?

There are lots of ways to be a Plan Ambassador. Plan Ambassadors is all about deepening your education on pensions, sharing personal stories about how a DB pension impacts you, and how CAAT can help increase pension coverage across Canada.

Some of the other ways you might choose to support Plan Ambassadors are to:

• Encourage your family, friends, and colleagues to also sign up and become a Plan Ambassadors themselves.

Q: What is the time commitment in being a Plan Ambassador?

It’s up to you! Being a Plan Ambassador is a personal decision, so your participation in the program is also unique to you. Whether it is being a diligent reader of the pension resources and information emailed to you or sharing the program and content with others, your support is important. Your commitment, no matter how large or how small, helps spread the pensions for everyone message and ensures more Canadians learn about the value of defined benefit pensions.

Q: Is the goal of the Plan Ambassador program to attract more members to CAAT Pension Plan?

While CAAT Pension Plan continues to expand pension coverage across Canada, the overall goal of the Plan Ambassador program is focused on spreading awareness of the challenges and opportunities that exist for retirement income security. The program is a collaborative initiative for active and retired CAAT members who believe that every Canadian deserves the opportunity to build a reliable stream of retirement income while they work. Plan Ambassadors join us as advocates in spreading the important message that pensions are for everyone.
