CAAT’s 2022 Year in Review is here! We’re so excited to share all the amazing things we’ve accomplished together in the past year, plus what’s on the horizon for 2023. As one of Canada’s most innovative pension plans, we have plenty of highlights we want to share with you. Read on below for some of our favourites or check out the year in review here.
CAAT’s growing!
CAAT has been actively working to address Canada’s prevalent pension coverage gap in the past year. Between 2000 and 2022, the number of Canadians covered by DB pensions decreased by 24%. It’s our mission to bridge this gap by offering pension access to more Canadians regardless of their sector or industry. We are pleased to say the mission is well underway as we welcomed new employers from the Yukon and Northwestern territories in 2022. With over 290 employers now participating in the Plan, more Canadians can look forward to a secure income in retirement.
Plan Ambassadors
As we continued to grow and lead the movement advocating pensions for everyone, we launched the Plan Ambassador program to amplify our message. We have members like you leading this conversation and other Canadians joining the movement. Canadians deserve better in retirement, and now with your help, we can spread the word that DB pensions are the way to do that. CAAT CEO Derek W. Dobson is leading the march, travelling across the country to spread the word that pensions are for everyone.
Staying resilient
Despite volatile investment markets, CAAT stayed resilient. Our team of committed investment experts and strategic approach helped us stay strong, allowing us to continue to be one of Canada’s most sustainable pension plans. Our plan’s funding status is at 124%, which means we have $1.24 set aside for the value of every dollar of pension benefit promised today and in the future.
