Russell is an accomplished communication and marketing leader. Since joining CAAT Pension Plan, one of Canada's fastest growing and most sustainable defined benefit (DB) pension plans, he's led the organization's external communication efforts with employers, members and other key audiences. Russell has over 15 years of experience managing external, internal and executive communications teams, holds the Strategic Communication Management Professional designation and is a Chartered Marketer with the Canadian Marketing Association.
Russell created and hosts CAAT's successful
Contributors podcast, where he interviews Canada’s most admired business leaders, including Victor Dodig (CIBC), Anthony Viel (Deloitte) and Shahrzad Rafati (Broadband TV). Since it’s launch in
2021, Contributors has won two gold Hermes Creative awards, three gold MarCom awards and has been downloaded nearly
100,000 times.
Russell is a sought-after expert on innovative corporate communications, receiving prestigious industry awards including the IABC Gold Quill and speaking at conferences across North America, such as Icology Calgary and the IABC World Conference in New York City. Russell also serves as a coach and advisor with the Cornell Executive MBA Metro NY Program.
Russell has MBAs from Cornell University and Queen's University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Toronto Metropolitan University.
