I can’t find my past earnings information. What options are available to me?

There may be some situations in which it is difficult to retrieve your earnings information, (for example if your previous employer does not have old employment records). In this case, you can provide past T4s.

If you have copies of the T4s for the relevant purchase period, send them to the CAAT Pension Plan. Note that to be considered valid, your T4 must show your earnings for the year in question and the name of your employer at the time. If you do not have the relevant T4s, contact the Canada Revenue Agency to request them. The Canada Revenue Agency will send you the T4s, which you can then copy and send to the CAAT Pension Plan. We suggest you contact them in writing as they’re more likely to respond to you in writing.

If the Canada Revenue Agency cannot provide T4s for any of the years requested, please forward CAAT a copy of a letter from CRA confirming that they do not have the required T4s. If the Canada Revenue Agency is unable to provide you with written confirmation, please contact the CAAT Plan for next steps.
