CAAT Pension Plan achieves ISO/IEC 27001 Certification for Information Security Management Systems

The proactive move assures new and existing members that the Plan manages information and cyber risks effectively.

TORONTO, June 15, 2023 - CAAT Pension Plan ("the Plan"), one of Canada's fastest-growing and most sustainable defined benefit (DB) pension plans, has attained ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for its Information Security Management System (ISMS). Achieving this certification shows the Plan's commitment to creating and maintaining the highest level of protection to safeguard the organization’s data, as well as the data and privacy of its members, participating employers and the Plan staff.

ISO/IEC 27001 is an internationally recognized standard for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an information security management system. Organizations compliant with the standard demonstrate effective security practices and policies tailored to their own information security risks.

"Achieving the ISO 27001:2022 designation is a testament to our unwavering commitment to protecting sensitive information and maintaining the highest data security standards," said Randy Haug, Vice President of Technology and IT Service Management, CAAT Pension Plan. "A lot of hard work went into attaining this certification to give our stakeholders confidence that we are serious about proactively protecting our systems against potential threats and ensuring our data remains reliable and accessible at all times."

The path toward meeting the ISO standard included an extensive independent audit from Intercert, an international organization that the Standards Council of Canada accredits. It found that the Plan's policies and procedures aligned with the information management industry's best practices and awarded the certification.
